Tree services company gifts mulch to community garden

The gift of mulch from A1 Sure Services is making a big difference at our new community garden in Rosedale Park.

George Kingsnorth, owner of the tree service company, delivered eight square metres of mulch to create paths to the raised garden beds. 

He is also providing ongoing deliveries of clean, fresh pine mulch, which is being added to organic waste from North Harbour Hockey Association (NHHA) to create a more balanced compost. Project co-ordinator Nicky Shave says this will be sold as a fundraiser for hockey, with any excess going to the community garden.

It's part of NHHA's mission to reduce its waste to landfill by half. The donated mulch allowed the organisation to harvest 2000kg of biomass to convert to compost during November and December last year.

"We are very grateful for the support from A1."

George says Te Hōnonga a Iwi is an ideal project for A1 to champion. "We are always keen to help the community, but not many projects need mulch."
