Restoration sweeps awards

It’s been a successful end to 2023 with Te Hōnonga a Iwi Restoring Rosedale Park recognised in several prestigious awards programmes.

The North Harbour Hockey Association (NHHA) won the Ultimate Pools Excellence in Sustainability award at the Purple Ink Business North Harbour Business Excellence Awards earlier this month. The award recognised all of the organisation’s efforts to increase sustainability within its operations including it’s leadership of the restoration project at Rosedale Park.

Te Hōnonga a Iwi also won the Hockey New Zealand Community Initiative of the Year Award for the second year in a row.

The restoration project was also celebrated at the Harbour Sport Excellence Awards, winning the Community Impact of the Year award. The NHHA Sustainability Committee won the Leadership in Diversity and Inclusion award.

Project co-ordinator Nicky Shave says these awards acknowledge the hard work of more than 40 local organisations who have united behind the restoration to generate positive social and ecological impacts to mitigate climate change.

“More than 2,000 people have been part of this project in 2023 and these awards are a testament to each and every one of them.”
